HALL OF FAME RULES.

It wouldn't be a Hall of Fame would it if the voting was objective! And this Hall of Fame has a committee of two and a dictator for its President. But we value it for its historical perspective. We go to alpaca funstions these days and are lost. We hardly know anyone. There are a lot of new faces and many of the older ones are gone and there goes the knowledge of history.
We have raised alpacas since 1991 and in the US since 2001. We first visited the US in 1994 and Peru in 1995 to import alpacas into Australia. We've seen a bit. We saw the famous males Hemingway and Don Julio in Charlevoix 1994 at the 2Peruvian import. They were shaking like a leaf with staggers and thanks heavens some aussies were there because no one else knew the condition. They survived and thrived. And that is when we saw our first real suris from Peru. There was Pperuvian Uribe and Pperuvin Ganador ( with his eye missing....from an injury!!!) Frankly we thought the group of females looked stupid. Ugly. They all had lion cuts. But then at a talk by Don Julio Bareeda we saw the light. He brought two magnificent suri males onto the stage. Pperuvian Amador and Pperuvian Cadete. We were staggeringly in love. He represented them as the ideal of the breed and didn't they look it. Don Julio said Peru neede more suris because the population was in decline and he hoped Americans and Aussies would encourage the breed. Alpaca wise we would do anything Don Julio said. Anything. And so we were on our path. As an aside both of them ended up on our Aussie farm and thats an intriguing story in itself. Also Alan and Don Julio regularly exchanged letters. His read like song. He was a very talented man.

What influenced inclusion of suri males in this Pucara Hall of Fame. Its purely subjective on which males we think have influenced the improvement of the breed for the suri traits that we admire. It also includes males we think have the potential to improve the industry based on their genetics and production so far. There will be some males we missed but we will add them as we come across them. But for now these are the ones that come to mind and we are waiting to get pics on others like Ramilo, Baron and Baron lafite.

And well of sourse, a lot of these stud males are ours. It's subjective?
